REVIEW: Is Mickey Shave Ice Worth The Hype At Disney's Aulani Resort

Aulani is Disney’s resort in Hawaii, and we recently stopped by to see if the resort is still as good as we remember, so we’re checking out everything! Next up on our list is a little something sweet.

Disney’s Aulani Resort takes a tropical paradise and adds a bit of Disney magic to it! There are so many restaurants, experiences, and Disney friends to say hi to while you’re here. We tested out two desserts during our beach strolls, starting with something from Papalau’s Shave Ice stand!

Papalua Shave Iced

This stand is in the shadow of the beautiful resort, where you can find several different flavors to add to your shaved ice! The stand is open from 11 AM to 5 PM each day, but make sure to double-check that on your trip. This stand is outside, so it could be subject to weather changes.

The menu!

We grabbed the most famous menu item, which is the colorful Mickey Ears Shave Ice for $7! You can also add on a snow cap of sweetened condensed milk or vanilla ice cream, but we kept it simple this time.

How to get your Mickey Ice!

We tried the Lychee, Blue Raspberry, and Banana flavors for our Mickey Ice, and we think this is a must-get!

The shaved Mickey Ice!

It’s so delicious and light and refreshing on a hot Hawaii day. It’s such a classic Hawaiian option with a fun Disney spin. We loved how many flavor options there are, so almost anyone can find something they like. The ice was frozen so well that we didn’t lose a Mickey ear, which is very different from how quickly things melt in the Florida heat.

They really load you up with the syrup when you order the flavors, and we do recommend picking flavors that are different colors because it means that on the lines between the flavors, a whole new color appears, making it look really pretty!

We also stopped by Little Opihis to grab another sweet treat because one on our Disney trip just isn’t enough!

This is another beachside snack stand where you can find Dole Whip, ice cream, fruit on a stick, boba milk teas, and more! We grabbed the Pineapple Dole Whip Waffle Bowl for $11, and you can choose between topping it off with Mickey, Minnie, Moana, or Stitch.

The menu!

We went with our best alien buddy Stitch and the pineapple and watermelon swirl flavor. The bowl is topped with palm trees and Mickey sprinkles! It was a big portion and definitely shareable. The pineapple dole whip is that classicly, tart, tangy, and sweet flavor.

How cute is this?

The watermelon reminded us of a watermelon Jolly Rancher flavor, so a bit on the sweet side. In the future, we’ll probably just stick to the traditional pineapple alone. It was a great way to cool down on a hot day!
