As much as we are in the Disney parks, we see a lot of mistakes that guests make (we still make some ourselves). But, there is one that can really ruin your trip.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
A Disney World vacation is packed with excitement — early mornings, thrilling rides, character meet-and-greets, and nonstop fun from park open to fireworks. But with all that magic comes long days, high temperatures, and crowded walkways that can leave even the most enthusiastic guests feeling drained. It’s easy to get caught up in the rush to do everything, but sometimes the smartest way to make the most of your trip is to slow down. A little strategy and a well-timed pause can help you stay energized, beat the heat, and keep the magic alive all day long
A trip to Disney World is full of magic, excitement, and unforgettable memories — but it’s also full of heat, crowds, and a lot of walking. That’s why taking a midday break can be one of the smartest decisions you make during your park day. Around 1PM, the Florida sun is at its strongest, lines are long, and the parks tend to feel their busiest. Giving yourself permission to step away for a little while can help you recharge both physically and mentally. Whether it’s to cool down, rehydrate, or simply give your feet a rest, that midday pause can be a game-changer.

Crowds
For many guests, taking a break in the middle of the day can feel like a waste of valuable park time, especially if you’re working with a tight itinerary or a limited number of days in the park. But pushing through can lead to cranky kids, overheated adults, and an early exit from the parks due to exhaustion. A short break can actually extend your day by giving you the second wind you need to enjoy the evening shows, shorter nighttime wait times, and cooler temperatures. Instead of burning out by 3 p.m., you’ll be refreshed and ready for more magic.

Spaceship Earth
If you’re staying at a Disney Resort, heading back to your hotel is one of the best ways to take a real break. A swim in the pool, a quick nap in the air conditioning, or even just a shower and change of clothes can do wonders. Disney transportation makes it easy to get to and from the parks, and you’ll return feeling like it’s a brand new day. This is especially helpful for families with young kids who need downtime away from the sensory overload of the parks.

Stormalong Bay
Not staying on-site or prefer to stay in the park? There are still plenty of ways to sneak in a break. Look for quiet corners, air-conditioned shows, or long, shaded indoor attractions. Think of Carousel of Progress or Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom, or The American Adventure at EPCOT. Plan a relaxing table service meal instead of grabbing food on the go to give you time to sit inside and fully enjoy a meal. The key is to listen to your body and take that breather when needed — it may feel small, but it can make a big difference in the overall quality of your Disney day.

I couldn’t agree more with this article. I’m hoping I can get my young grandkids to head back to the pool and also take a nap so we can return to Magic Kingdom to see the fire works or the parade. They’ve yet to experience these delightful experiences.
