There is SO much going on with the new Cars area in Magic Kingdom!

We recently learned that the new area will be called Piston Peak, we got some insight on new queue details, and we snuck a peek at a brand new map! While that has all been very exciting, there is one thing that we think might be our favorite part of the new area, and it’s super simple. See what we’re talking about right here!
There will be so much to see and do in Piston Peak! The new area will feature two attractions, a new character named Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore, and so much shade. While we’re sad to be losing Tom Sawyer and the Rivers of America, we won’t lie and say we aren’t excited for the new changes.

One thing we’re super excited about is a smaller detail that might be a bit niche. Within the new area, there will be a large geyser called Old Tankful. (Get it? Like Old Faithful?) This geyser will erupt periodically throughout the day.

Not only will it erupt throughout the day, but you can also race around it! While the design isn’t set in stone, we can see this being a really fun and simple way to enjoy the land. One thing we will miss about Tom Sawyer Island is the interactive playgrounds, bridges, and more for our kiddos to burn off some steam while parents catch a water break.

While it won’t be an entire playground, we like to think that Old Tankful will offer that fun, interactive, playful element that we’ll be losing with Tom Sawyer’s permanent closure on July 7th, 2025. The entire area will feature tons of rainbow geysers, water features, and more, which has made us even more excited.

This is just one of the little things we’re excited to see come to life when the land opens. Disney has yet to hint when the land will officially open. We are eagerly awaiting more details, so make sure you keep following DFB for the latest Disney news updates.
