A new Cars-themed area is coming to Magic Kingdom, and Disney just dropped so many details.
The new area will be called Piston Peak, and it will allow you to enter the world of Cars with a National Park twist.
Here’s a first look at the map for Piston Peak!
This new area will take over Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America, located to the right of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. On the map, we can see Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain. Picture yourself standing near the Haunted Mansion, looking towards Tiana’s Bayou.
On the map, the most significant area we can see is dedicated to one of the two attractions. This attraction will allow you to race through the mountains on wild terrain, avoiding geysers and mud holes.
Earlier this year, we got a look at the different vehicles we’ll see. Disney is trying to replicate the feeling of off-roading, and each car will have its own personality, name, and number.
There are lots of water elements, including a waterfall! While this won’t be equal to Rivers of America, it’s nice to see water features being brought in.
The whole area was inspired by National Parks, specifically the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The area is called Piston Peak from the fictional land, Piston Peak National Park, from the 2014 movie Planes: Fire & Rescue.
Big Thunder Mountain, which we’ll be able to see next door in Piston Peak, was inspired by Bryce Canyon National Park, so they’re bringing in classic Disney ideas.
We don’t have any opening timelines for Pison Peak yet. Rivers of America, the Liberty Square Riverboat, and Tom Sawyer Island are closing on July 7th to make way for the area. Construction walls will come a few weeks after July 7th.
We’ll be ready for more details to be announced, so make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more.

Why do they make it look like a dirt track with dust blowing up? There is zero chance it’s going to be a dirt track. Hope the preschoolers enjoy this one.
No.
One can only assume that the track will be a closed loop system with a continuous feed cable embedded in the road. Hmm, it will be interesting if Disney can pull this off. Big step forward and I have trouble with the guest count that can be processed in a hour. Does not seem like it will be a high thruput attraction. Long lines could be ahead.
Still kinda sad about the Rivers of America and the Liberty Bell….but I guess I’m not the target market.
I love the Liberty Belle and I’m very sad to see it go. I guess more money can be made using the space for cars land.
So I guess there’ll be Rivers but what’s going to happen to the liberty belle steam boat? Is it going to be drydocked in front of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride. Will it be moved elsewhere or is it going to be dismantled? I still wish I could have that radiator springs 500 1/2 ride featuring Stanley model t car. Is this going to be based on planes 1 and 2 movie? Also will there be a thunder hollow bumper cars ride and cars race based on cars 3 movie with Mrs fritter the monster school bus and Jackson storm? I hope we can have other cars rides in the future.
Looks great!
