When it comes to dining options in Disney World, there are so many to choose from, including A LOT of options in the general EPCOT resort area.
Now, if you’re looking for breakfast in this area, you may want to head to Trattoria al Forno. We recently made a visit to see what breakfast is like there now. So let’s go!
Atmosphere
Note that breakfast at Trattoria al Forno was once a character breakfast, the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast, which featured Disney couples like Rapunzel and Flynn Rider and Ariel and Eric. However, the character dining experience here has been closed since 2020. So what you get now is just breakfast sans characters.
Once we arrived, we checked in at the main desk and waited for our table.
The waiting area almost feels like an old Italian couple’s living room, complete with family photos on the wall.
The vibe inside the restaurant is modern Italian, and the dining space is full of dark wood and red accents with gold lighting fixtures.
The space also features an open kitchen where you can watch Disney chefs work their magic.
Vintage photos adorn the walls.
Plenty of seating is available, including standard tables and chairs, as well as booths.
But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
The theme here is Italian, with breakfast serving up “old world favorites.” You’ll find traditional breakfast foods here, but many have an Italian twist. Beverages include wine and sangria, as well as some cocktails, coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages
And now, onto the main event — the food!
Eats
First up, we grabbed the Al Forno Eggs for $17. This is a plate of Brick Oven-roasted Cage-free Eggs, Polenta, Fennel Sausage, Spiced Tomato Sauce, and Country Bread. This is a hearty platter with lots of different textures and flavors. We like how the polenta adds a grainy texture to the eggs. The fennel sausage is chopped into small pieces and adds some meatiness and herbiness to each bite.
The spiced tomato sauce had a nice, rich flavor, and although the description doesn’t include cheese, we could’ve sworn there was Parmesan cheese on top. The bread is crispy and tastes like sourdough — that crispiness works great with the soft egg mixture.
How could we resist the Oak-grilled Steak and Eggs for $21? It’s served with Sunny-side Up Eggs, Breakfast Potatoes, Crispy Onions, and Hollandaise Sauce. We ordered our steak medium, and it was well-cooked on the outside with some red in the middle. You get a pretty good portion of steak, which has a really nice char and smokiness to it. It was also chewy and tender.
The potatoes are lightly seasoned with a nice golden exterior — they’re soft on the inside and are the perfect complement to the steak. The crispy onions add a nice crunchiness.
For a lighter option, we ordered the Freshly Harvested Fruit with Honey Yogurt for $15 with Fresh Berries and House-made Granola. The fruit included raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, and apples. The fruit was fresh, and you could tell by the taste. The yogurt tastes like plain yogurt, but the honey drizzle on top gives it some sweetness.
The granola is crispy and crunchy and has both nuts and oats in it. If you’re looking for something light for breakfast, this could be quite satisfying because it’s such a good portion size.
Okay, let’s not forget about drinks!
Drinks
To drink, we got the Watermelon No-Jito for $5.99. It tastes just like a watermelon mojito, even without the alcohol. You get a light flavor of watermelon with notes of lime and mint. It’s fizzy, sweet, and refreshing, and a great dupe of a mojito without the alcohol.
We also tried the Peach Bellini, made with Ruffino Prosecco with White Peach Purée for $15.50. This drink is just PEACHY. No, really. But first, be sure to give it a good stir because the peach furée falls to the bottom. The prosecco is smooth with a hint of bitterness, but the big flavor here is the peach. It’s a nice light drink that’s perfect for breakfast.
If we had one complaint, it’s that it’s pretty small, considering its price.
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You’re staying in the EPCOT resort area. Trattoria al Forno is located on Disney’s BoardWalk, so it’s an easy breakfast if you’re staying in the area.
- You want a table service breakfast experience. This is a table service restaurant, and breakfast here is a more leisurely meal.
- You like big breakfasts. Although this is not a buffet, portion sizes for everything we got here were sizable and enough to satisfy big breakfast eaters.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You’re not staying in the area. This is not necessarily a restaurant we’ll tell you to run to if you’re not staying in the area.
- You want a character dining breakfast. As we previously stated, the character dining experience at this breakfast has been gone since 2020, and it’s starting to look like it’s not coming back.
- You want a quick breakfast. If you want something quick, you’ll want to grab breakfast at one of the many quick-service spots in the area instead.
Overall
We’re still not sure why Disney decided not to bring back the character dining breakfast here (although there’s one in the area at Cape May Cafe), but breakfast at Trattoria al Forno is still a pretty solid choice if you’re looking for a table service breakfast with hearty choices.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!

one of the best breakfasts on property! we always go out of our way to stop by before the parks. the al forno eggs are so so good.
We ate there when it was still a character breakfast. It’s a shame that they didn’t bring it back. It was a unique character experience, with some characters that are hard or impossible to find elsewhere. But the food at that breakfast (very different from what you show here) was prix fixe and underwhelming to be nice about it. If they still take reservations, we’d definitely give this restaurant a try again for breakfast. The entree prices are amazing for table service.
No matter where we stay, we try to eat a meal here…breakfast, lunch, or dinner… it is worth it. Service has always been top notch for us and we stroll the boardwalk and/or hit Jellyrolls after if dinner. It’s a great way to spend a down day. Walking to Epcot area and riding the gondola around is another fun addition to the area. You really could spend all day being entertained for the cost of a meal. Characters can often be encountered as well. I totally disagree that if you aren’t staying, dont go.
While the food is good there, there is no point to Trattoria al Forno for me without the characters. Specifically, Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder.
Thank you for sharing. I’d love to try it someday. That food looks tasty.
Went to WDW 2023 & 2024 and was extremely disappointed that the character breakfast there had been cancelled. The best part of this character breakfast was “couples”. Everywhere we go in WDW my granddaughter always asks each princess – where is the prince? The only prince you can find in all of WDW is Aladdin in Magic Kingdom. Very disheartening.
I am not going to even consider “Beast” as a prince to meet. The restaurant prices are excessive and you’re lucky if you get a wave from him – far far away!
