Planning a Disney vacation isn’t always easy — you’ve got to get your tickets, make your hotel and dining reservations, book Lightning Lanes, and so much more.
And, when rides go down for extended refurbishment, that can throw an even bigger wrench into your plans. An iconic Disneyland ride was scheduled to close for maintenance on April 28th, but it now looks like that has changed. Here’s what you need to know.
Heads up if you’re planning a visit to Disneyland Resort! The Matterhorn Bobsleds were originally scheduled to close for a refurbishment on April 28th, but it appears as though that has since changed.
Instead, the Disneyland calendar now shows the Matterhorn Bobsleds closing for refurbishment on Monday, May 5th. As of now, no reopening date is listed for this closure. At the time of writing, the calendar only went out through June 9th, and the ride was still listed as having no operating hours on that date.
In typical Disney fashion, no details were shared about the refurbishment or the rescheduling, but we’ll be sure to let you know if anything changes.
We don’t blame you for wanting to plan a trip to Disneyland! The 70th Anniversary Celebration kicks off on May 16th, and we can’t wait. We’ll be getting 2 new dessert parties, a new character meet and greet is coming, new and returning shows are on the way, and there is so much exclusive merchandise on the way.
Disney also shared that new restaurants and stores will be coming to Downtown Disney as the park continues to grow and change before the celebrations start on May 16th, 2025.
Throughout Disneyland, expect to see anniversary decor as you make your way around the park, enjoying the celebrations. You won’t want to miss the 50-foot sculpture inspired by Sleeping Beauty Castle, “with colorful glass panels and golden charms representing the five original lands.”
Multi-colored banners and vibrant flowers will decorate Main Street, U.S.A., and a medallion will be featured on Sleeping Beauty Castle! There is so much coming to Disneyland for the 70th Anniversary, so check back here for more announcements.
We’ll be on the lookout for even more updates from Disneyland that you need to know. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
