In case you missed it, Star Wars Celebration Japan was held this weekend, and Disney dropped a TON ofĀ Star Wars news bombs.
We learned that yes, Ryan Gosling is going to star in aĀ Star WarsĀ movie,Ā AndorĀ season two is going to be OFF the hook, Ahsoka season two is bringing back Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, and SO much more. However, we also got some details on a ride in Star Wars: Galaxyās Edge in Disney World and Disneyland. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is changing ā and we just got even MORE details on those changes.
Disney revealed some of the changes for the ride at last yearās SXSW conference. In honor of the release ofĀ The Mandalorian and Grogu movie on May 22nd, 2026, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will offer NEW experiences for those who ride it, beginning on that same date.
The ride will get a new storyline featuring both the Mandalorian and Grogu. The story goes like this: Hondo Ohnaka just found out about a deal on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and some pirates. Thereās a bounty for their capture, so youāre going to āborrowā the Millennium Falcon and team up with Din Djarin and Grogu to track them down. But thereās more ā youāll also get to visit some NEW destinations on the ride, including Bespinā¦
ā¦Tatooineā¦
ā¦and the ruins of the Death Starā¦WHOA.
Hereās another scene from Tatooine.
Well, weāve got NEW concept art with MORE destinations, including Coruscant. CORUSCANT, yāall.
Youāll even have a chance to fly through Beggarās Canyonā¦
ā¦and through the remains of a Krayt Dragon.
Youāll even be visiting a loading dock on Cloud City, where you might spot a VERY familiar ship from Star Tours also visiting.
Thereās also a scene inside a Death Star launch bay near Endor.
But youāre probably wondering how youāre supposed to visit ALL those destinations in such a short time? Well, you wonāt. BUT for the first time ever, you and your crew get to be in control of the destination. SAY WHAT? Yep! And forget the pilot positionā¦folks are going to be SCRAMBLING to be an engineer on the new version of the ride because the engineer gets to communicate with Grogu through the new mission. Pilot shmilot!

Glad Disney is finally adding some re-rideability to this ride.
Couldnāt agree more Josh, we did this for the first time on our last visit and after riding it 4 times and getting Engineer each time Iām pleased they are giving them some impact now. Before this announcement I had no plans on riding this again, but Iād also like to suggest another quality of life improvement in limiting the pilots input as my last ride on there I can off with whiplash š
What a great way to encourage people to want to sit in another position rather than pilot!
