Disney World is going through a lot right now!

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

From major Magic Kingdom changes, to permanent closures in Animal Kingdom, and new shows coming to Hollywood Studios, it seems like the parks are hard at work. The resorts seem to be getting in on the updates too because we just noticed that a fan-favorite restaurant will be closing soon! 

If you’re a fan of loud dining, silly servers, and tasty food, you might be a fan of Whispering Canyon Cafe! This table-service dining option is located at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Whispering Canyon has developed a reputation for chaotic but fun dining experiences but if you were hoping to enjoy one of their famous skillets soon, you might be out of luck. This table service will be closed from May 12th through May 21st, 2025!

The restaurant will be undergoing some general refurbishment during its closure. This restaurant is an “all you can enjoy” spot so you can order one skillet and get your favorite bites as many times as you want while you’re dining there which is part of why it’s such a popular spot. Their breakfast, lunch, and dinner options serve up American-inspired skillets that we happen to love.

If you’re staying at Wilderness Lodge during the closure, no worries! Wilderness Lodge has some sleeper hits in Disney World like Territory Lounge, Geyser Point, Roaring Fork, and Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White to help keep you satisfied during your stay. We find ourselves spending a lot of time at this resort even when we aren’t hotel guests thanks to the proximity to Magic Kingdom and the good food.

If you’ve never dined at Whispering Canyon Cafe, it’s important to remember it isn’t for everyone! This restaurant embraces the art of “horsing around” with the Cast Members who have a reputation for being sassy with the guests. It’s all a part of the fun and the act of the restaurant so don’t be offended if they get a bit silly with you.

We’re pretty excited to see that this refurbishment will be a short one unlike some others happening around the parks (we’re looking at you Big Thunder Mountain!)  If you really want to be fussed at by your waiter for some reason, 50’s Prime Time Cafe in Hollywood Studios will fill the void for you during this closure.
