Okay, it’s no secret that the Florida sun can be BRUTAL — it’s even brutal when it’s covered in clouds.
Now, we’re always telling you how important it is to stay hydrated (and we always recommend keeping a water bottle with you while you’re in the parks). However, protecting your skin is equally important. That means you’ll have to make some decisions about sunscreen, but don’t worry — because we go to Disney World every day, we’ve got our tried and true sunscreen hacks to help you take better care of yourself while you’re on vacation.

So these are two sunscreen products that we swear by and we’ll tell you why.
Get the Shiseido Clear Sunscreen Stick SPF 50+
Okay, hear us out — these sticks are SO convenient to throw in your bag because they make reapplying SO easy, especially when you’re on the go. You don’t have to go find a spot to spray yourself down or anything like that. They do feel a little sticky, but the convenience is worth it. This one is one of our faves.
Buy the Sun Bum Original SPF 45 Sunscreen Face Mist
Now if you need to protect your face, you’ll have to reapply several times during the day, too. If you don’t want to use a stick on your face, this face mist is JUST what you need. It’s also enriched with vitamin E so it moisturizes AND protects your skin.
Here are some tips:
- Be sure to reapply your sunscreen as often as you need to.
- You’ll also want to reapply if you go on any water rides (although many sunscreens are waterproof, you still need to reapply occasionally).
- Be sure to protect every part of skin that will be exposed to the sun throughout the day.

My biggest sunscreen hack is to wear a swim t-shirt at the water parks. The whole area underneath it is protected so no need to keep reapplying sunscreen on that area of your body. Once the t-shirt is wet it’s so much cooler than having your skin exposed. And for tall men, like my husband and son, that’s a lot of sunscreen saved. Obviously, still apply on areas that are not under the swim shirt.
Another tip is one that my goddaughter got last year from one of the nurses at the first aid centre at one of the parks. My goddaughter was so hot that her sweaty forehead made the sunscreen on her face run and got in her eyes. They stung like mad so she went to first aid to get her eyes washed out. The nurse told her off for wearing factor 50 on her face and said she should wear factor 30 and just reapply it more often.
