Michelle Trachtenberg, an actress known for her roles in Gossip Girl, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Ice Princess, has passed away. She was 39 years old.

According to ABC News, Trachtenberg passed away on February 26th in New York City. Sources told ABC News that Trachtenberg “recently underwent a liver transplant and may have been experiencing complications.” At this time, no foul play is suspected, and the actresses was believed to have died of natural causes. ABC News confirmed that the medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to provide more details on the manner of death.
Trachtenberg was born on October 11th, 1985, in New York City. Trachtenberg began her acting career as a young child in the early 1990s, working with Nickelodeon on The Adventure of Pete & Pete and Harriet the Spy, where she played the title character. Trachtenberg’s breakout role later came in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where she played Dawn in 66 episodes from 2000 to 2003. In 2005, she starred in Disney’s Ice Princess movie.

A few years later, Trachtenberg played the iconic villain known as Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl, which earned her a nomination as the “Choice TV villain” at the Teen Choice Award in 2012. Trachtenberg also starred in a range of television shows, including Law and Order: SVU, Weeds, and the Gossip Girl reboot by HBO.
