New ‘Spider-Man’ Movie Sets DELAYED Summer Premiere Date

The third installment of Sony and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, premiered in 2021. Since then, fans have been on the edge of their seats waiting for the next chapter in Peter Parker’s story. The next Spider-Man film (still untitled) will premiere in 2026, and now, the opening date has been delayed.

Sony and Marvel Studios’ new Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland will now premiere on July 31st, delaying the original release date by one week.

Spider-Man 4 was previously set to premiere on July 24th, 2026, though the film would face some steep competition around this time. Christopher Nolan’s new movie, The Odyssey, is projected to be a big hit this summer, premiering on July 17th, 2026. Marvel and Sony likely chose to delay Spider-Man 4 to give the film a better shot at the box office, according to Deadline.

Marvel is no stranger to a “superhero summer” premiere. In 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine debuted on the last Friday in July, making $211.4M domestically and $444.7M worldwide opening weekend. Given the popularity of the Spider-Man series, Marvel and Sony are likely hoping for a major box-office hit in 2026.

We still don’t know much about the plot of this sequel. We know that Tom Holland will return as Spider-Man, and Deadline confirmed Zendaya is expected to return as well. That said, everything from the name of the movie to the details of the story is still a mystery.

Last summer, Inside Out 2 smashed box office records, making over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. Could Spider-Man 4 break this record in 2026? We’ll have to wait and see!
