It’s been over a year since Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board took over what was once the Reedy Creek district at Disney World, after several lawsuits and a settlement agreement.
Now that the Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board has taken over the district, DeSantis has the power to appoint members to that board. Now, the governor has appointed three new members.
On February 14th, Governor DeSantis announced that he had appointed Alexis Yarbrough as Chair of the Central Florida Oversight Tourism District, while John Gilbert and Scott Workman were also appointed to the District’s board. Note that these appointments aren’t official until they are confirmed and approved by the Florida Senate.
Yarbrough is currently serving as Chair of the Broward College District Board of Trustees. She previously served as Chair and Commissioner on the Fourth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami and her juris doctor from Nova Southeastern University.
Gilbert is currently the Executive Managing Director at Stream Realty Partners and was recognized in 2007 and 2012 as the Orlando Office Broker of the Year by the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, Commercial Real Estate Development Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University in real estate.
Workman owns Workman Transportation and is the President of Workman Travel. He’s been a part of the transportation industry in Orlando for over 25 years and attended the University of Iowa.
We’ll keep an eye out for more announcements regarding the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
