Disney's Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout To Temporarily Close SOON

Okay, so the beginning of the year is when Disney does a LOT of scheduled maintenance on things, including pools, hotels, and rides.

So it’s no surprise when so many things close this time of year for that scheduled maintenance. However, over in Disneyland, There’s already so much construction going on, what with a new Coco ride and Avatar-themed land coming. Well, in addition to that, a super popular ride, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout in Disney California Adventure is closing on March 1st for refurbishment.

If you take a look at Disneyland’s refurbishment calendar, you’ll see that Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout will be closed on March 1st, along with Redwood Creek Challenge Trail and Grizzly River Run.

On the page for the ride, the current calendar only runs through mid-March, but the ride is showing that it’s closed for every day up until that point. So at this time, we don’t have a reopening timeline.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout started its life out as a reproduction of Tower of Terror, as seen in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The ride got a complete re-theme and reopened as Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout in 2017. At the time, the re-theme was controversial, but the ride quickly became one of the most popular in California Adventure.

The ride’s infrastructure and ride system remains the same as its predecessor, the Tower of Terror, but the exterior and interior was redesigned to look like The Collector’s Fortress from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The ride also got a new story with the characters of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, as well as new special effects and music. Eventually, Avengers Campus was built around the ride to create an entire Marvel-themed land in California Adventure.
