There are PLENTY of ways to take your Disney World trip to the next level.
Luckily, Disney makes it easy with tons of perks and experiences that are designed to make your vacation just a bit more magical than it already is. But, that doesn’t mean that everything is all sunshine and rainbows — there are lots of offerings Disney could add that would enhance your trip even more, and we think this one would be a game-changer!
Okay, technically these are three different things that could totally change the game at Disney World, but we figured you wouldn’t mind. We headed over to our Facebook page to ask you, our readers, what perk Disney could add or bring back that would completely change their trip — here’s what you said!
Hotel Package Delivery
Back in the Before Times (prior to the COVID-19-related closures), Disney World offered package delivery to guests staying at Disney World hotels. Essentially, you could do all the shopping you wanted all day long in the parks, leaving your items with a Cast Member after you purchase them, and then they would magically show up at your hotel later that day. There was no need to lug your purchases around the parks or worry about any delicate items breaking.
But, when the parks reopened after the closures — package delivery never came back. Now, if you plan on doing lots of shopping on your Disney World trip, you need to be prepared to carry your packages around with you all day (unless you rent a locker available at the front of each park!).
We got quite a few replies from folks who said they simply don’t do as much shopping in the parks as they used to since they can’t easily send their packages back to their hotel rooms. It makes total sense to us! If you’re traveling light in the parks without a stroller or backpack, carrying those pesky Disney shopping bags around with you can be rather annoying.
Free FastPasses
Gone are the days when you could walk up to a kiosk, put your park ticket in the machine, and have the machine pop out a paper FastPass that allowed you to skip the standby lines at a ride during a specific time. Oh yeah, and did we mention this was FREE? Since then, we’ve had FastPass+ (still free), Genie+ (paid), and now Lightning Lane Single, Multi, and Premier Pass (paid).
An overwhelming number of our readers said that bringing the old FastPass+ system back would be a total game-changer for their experience in the parks. With FastPass+, folks could choose three rides at which they could skip the line ahead of their trip — all for free. Heck, at this rate, most of our readers would still take paper FastPasses over the current Lightning Lane system.
Magical Express
No, no, not the Magic School Bus. The Magical Express was a FREE shuttle service that provided transportation between Orlando International Airport and Disney World. Guests of Disney World hotels could reserve seats and a time on the bus that would magically take them to their hotel. Disney even collected your luggage for you and delivered it straight to the hotel for you!
But, as of January 1st, 2022, Magical Express was no more. Instead, Disney entered into a new partnership with Mears (who operated the original Magical Express busses) to introduce Mears Connect — a new, paid shuttle service between Orlando International Airport and Disney World hotels. The service is reasonably priced, but it doesn’t offer the same ease that the Magical Express once did.
It seems many of our readers seriously miss the Magical Express, and if Disney brought it back it would likely change their trip! While we don’t see that happening anytime soon, we can completely understand how it would benefit thousands of people every year.
