Rock royalty recently visited Disney World.
Celebrity sightings at Disney World are nothing new, as everyone from heads of state to famous athletes to the world’s biggest musical stars have been making pilgrimages to the company’s theme parks since Walt’s day. Recently, members of one of America’s biggest all-time rock bands visited the Magic Kingdom.
This past week, members of the rock band Journey, including founding member/guitarist Neil Schon and current vocalist Ariel Pineda, visited the Magic Kingdom and documented it on social media.
Schon himself shared two photos of the group — one on Main Street and One in front of Cinderella Castle — along with the caption “Had a great time hanging at Disney World today! The Band had a blast today 🙌🏽 @disney world today !!!”
Schon also tagged @nealandmichaeleschon, the joint Instagram account he shares with his wife. That account shared its own Disney content, in the form of two short videos displaying images from their trip set to orchestral versions of Disney songs “A Whole New World” and “When You Wish Upon a Star.”
Like recent visits from members of Blink-182 and The Rolling Stones, the Journey party’s visit to the park coincided with the band playing a major gig in the Orlando area. In Journey’s case, that was a July 10th show at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium as part of their summer stadium tour with Def Leppard.
Their hit-filled set included:
- Only the Young
- Stone in Love
- Keep On Runnin’
- Escape
- Faithfully
- Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’
- Piano Solo
- Open Arms
- Line of Fire
- La Do Da
- Dead or Alive
- Guitar Solo
- Wheel in the Sky
- Lights
- Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)
- Be Good to Yourself
- Any Way You Want It
- Don’t Stop Believin’
Journey first formed in 1973 and saw their greatest period of success from 1978 through 1987 with singer Steve Perry. During this period, they released a slew of successful albums including Escape and Frontiers. Over the course of their career, the band has sold over 100 million records worldwide (including 25 gold and platinum albums in the U.S.) and has had 19 top-40 singles. Journey was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
The band’s current lineup of Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Deen Castronovo, Arnel Pineda, Jason Derlatka, and Todd Jensen remains a massively popular touring force.
Clearly, Journey hasn’t stopped “believin’” in the Disney magic, as the band paid a visit to the “Most Magical Place on Earth” in conjunction with their most recent massive Orlando show. Stay tuned to DFB for further coverage of celebrity visits to Disney World.
CONFESSION: I AVOIDED Magic Kingdom for Over 6 Hours, and I Felt Super Guilty About It. But It Was the RIGHT CHOICE.
