Have you ever been on Storybook Land Canal Boats in Disneyland?

This classic attraction has been in Disneyland since the park’s opening day in 1955, but did you know it has a counterpart in Disneyland Paris? The Disneyland Paris version of Storybook Land Canal Boats is called “Le Pays des Contes de Fées” (which literally translates into “The Land of Fairy Tales”), and that ride is getting a Pixar update very soon!
Le Pays des Contes de Fées debuted in Disneyland Paris in 1994, and it’s similar to the Disneyland version of Storybook Land Canal Boats in that it takes guests on a boat ride through Disney stories told in miniature. Each scene is inspired by an iconic Disney movie. But soon, a scene from Up‘s Paradise Falls is joining the ride, featuring the house, Carl, Russell, and even Kevin. Disneyland Paris released concept art of what this new addition to the ride will look like.

This new scene will act as the finale for the ride and will join two previously announced scenes from Frozen and Winnie the Pooh. Disney Imagineers are already working on the Up addition with the Disneyland Paris teams to deliver all three new worlds to the ride.

Le Pays des Contes de Fées is also getting a sponsor, Vittel. A new updated marquee will also be added to the ride, along with new decor, to integrate the sponsor throughout the experience of the attraction to “celebrate the role that water has played as a vital source of inspiration for magical adventures in Disney stories.”
Le Pays des Contes de Fées presented by Vittel is currently closed while it’s getting its update, but it’s set to reopen sometime this summer.
