A very popular TV series is doing a whole season ABOUT DISNEY and we CAN’T WAIT!
The popular That Built series has been running on The History Channel since The Men Who Built America debuted in 2012. The long running, interconnected series combines documentary-style interviews with dramatized reenactments to tell famous stories about cultural and business developments in American history. Some of the iterations over the years have included The Food That Built America, The Toys That Built America, The Titans That Built America, and The Cars That Built America. Now, the series is getting ready to tackle Disney.
How Disney Built America will debut on The History Channel in April 2024. According to the network, the series is “a nostalgia-filled ride that paints a vivid picture of the world of Walt Disney and the history-making empire he and his brother Roy Disney built.”
Each of the show’s six hour long episodes will use the series usual docudrama approach to focus on various events in Disney history, including the creation of the studio’s famous characters, revolutionizing everything from animation techniques to merchandising, and how Walt and his Imagineers used “groundbreaking design and engineering to construct Disneyland, Walt Disney World Resort, and beyond.”
The series will feature interviews with experts Don Wildman, Margaret Kerrison, Douglas Brinkley, Mindy Johnson, and – arguably most interesting to hardcore Disney fans – legendary Disney Imagineer Bob Gurr, who designed hundreds of Disney’s ride vehicles while working closely with Walt and his fellow initial Imagineers.
How Disney Built America is scheduled to air its premiere episode – appropriately entitled “The Birth of Mickey” – on April 28th at 10:00 p.m. EST. The series will be available to stream the following day. Stay tuned to DFB for more on the series.
