Who else LOVED keeping up with the Russos as a kid? We sure did!
Wizards of Waverly Place was available to watch on Disney Channel from 2007 to 2012, and a lot of us were pretty bummed when the show was canceled. So, imagine how STOKED we all were when a REBOOT was announced! The fan-favorite family comedy starred Selena Gomez as Alex Russo, who navigated her teenage life as a wizard while surrounded by her normal friends, classmates, and teachers. Of course, her family members were also wizards, including her older brother Justin, played by David Henrie. Henrie was the one to announce the reboot, sharing a photo on social media of the script cover. Now, we have another update!
Disney+ shared on X that the reboot would arrive THIS FALL!

So far, we don’t know much else about the series other than that it it follows along with now-grownup Justin Russo, who has chosen to leave his life of wizardry behind to live a normal, human life alongside his wife and two sons. However, this life plan is upheaved when a “powerful young wizard in training” shows up at his door and needs his help. In order to help her, he has to pick up the wand again and tune in to his past self.
So, it seems that while the original series focused more on Alex’s life, the reboot will focus more on Justin.
We can’t wait to hear more details on this soon, and we’ll be sure to keep you all updated when the time comes. Make sure to follow along here at DFB so that you never miss a thing!
