Disney Cruise Line is expanding in a BIG way.

Disney Wish at Castaway Cay

The Disney Wish set sail in 2022, later this year Disney Cruise Line will open its new beach destination — Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, and the NEW Disney Treasure cruise ship will debut in December. Coming up in 2025, the Disney Adventure cruise ship will start cruising from Singapore, and we’ve just learned that Disney Cruise Line’s 8th ship will also enter service in 2025!

Disney has announced that the newest ship will be named the Disney Destiny! Let’s take a look at everything we’ve learned about this brand new ship.

Disney Destiny Size

The Destiny is part of the same class of ships with the Disney Wish and the Disney Treasure. That means it will have a similar layout and capacity. It should hold up to 4,000 passengers in about 1,200 staterooms. The ship’s gross tonnage will be about 144,000, and the ship will measure 1,119 feet long and 128 feet wide.

Disney Destiny Service Date

Disney Destiny has a 2025 delivery date, though we don’t know exactly when it will set sail in 2025 just yet! We do know that the keel laying ceremon was held on March 20th, 2024 in the German shipyard where the Destiny is being built.

The keel-laying ceremony happens when the first modules of the ship that have been being built out of the water are placed in the dock where the ship will take shape.

Disney Destiny Theme

Disney has announced that the theme for this new cruise ship will be Heroes and Villains! The keel art features Captain Minnie wearing a hero’s cape!

Disney also produced a video about the new ship, starring Hercules, Hades, and Captain Minnie. You can watch it right here.

“The Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering teams were inspired by the dynamic duality of every great Disney story when developing this new ship, where opposing forces of light and dark drive characters to rise to their purpose,” Disney said in a statement. Characters from The Lion King, Hercules, and One Hundred and One Dalmations will be featured on the ship.

We don’t know all that much about what might be INSIDE the new Disney Destiny cruise ship, but Disney has shared some Easter eggs! If you watched the video above, you saw this image at the very end…

What does it mean, Disney?!! We see Pirates of the Caribbean …  (Could this mean we’re getting a Pirates lounge on the ship? Or it could be a reference to Pirate Night, but all the ships have that.) … Haunted Mansion … (Are we getting another Haunted Mansion lounge, a la the Disney Treasure?) … Spiderman and Black Panther … (this could be the Marvel restaurant on the Wish and the Treasure or something from the kids’ clubs, but maybe MORE) … and Edna Mode … (maybe a reference to a Incredibles inflatable play space, or something more).
