One of the best simple pleasures in life is visiting Costco and taking your pick of the grab-and-go food options.
They say that grocery shopping is best done with a full belly. Costco helps ya out with that issue by having a pretty impressive food court so that you can fill up your stomach before shopping. Although, we will admit that even when we grub before we shop, we still end up with unnecessary but delicious snacks. Anyway, have you ever wondered what Costco executives opt for out of the seemingly endless food court options? Well, we can’t say we have either, but now we know — and now we’re interested.
Costco’s outgoing Chief Financial Officer (CFO) chatted with Business Insider about his go-to food options at the wholesale store.
The article shares that CFO Richard Galanti has been with Costco for all but a few months of the company’s 40-year history. That’s IMPRESSIVE. Well, in nearly 40 years, you learn a thing or two about what the BEST eats are. Here are Galanti’s go-tos:
“I will buy a rotisserie chicken, shrimp cocktail, and the Kirkland Signature vanilla ice cream, which is the best,” he said. “I’d also get some King Crab legs if they are available, and some grapes.”
He said that when his wife is out of town, he opts for Costco’s dinner options. This is a pretty affordable meal for Galanti’s $6.7 million annual compensation package. Business Insider said, “It’s a pretty light-on-the-wallet menu: $5 for the chicken, roughly $15 for the shrimp (1.6 pounds), and $15 for two half-gallon cartons of ice cream.”
For lunch, Galanti opts for one of Costco’s most iconic options: the $1.50 hotdog combo! He also shared that this low price is something the company has strived to maintain, including building their own hot dog plant and poultry facility. Woah. As for non-food items. Galanti frequently purchases 3-packs of reading glasses. He says he’s always losing them. Wow. He really is just like us.
