If you’re traveling to Florida for Spring Break, keep reading.
Things have been getting EXPENSIVE recently. We’re not only talking about Disney World anymore, either. No matter where you’re headed in the Sunshine State, you’re likely to see some price increases on something important while traveling: gas. We want to make sure that you’re as prepared as you can be for your trip, so let’s talk about what’s going on.
We know that budgeting for vacations is important, so we want to make sure you have all the tools you need in order to accurately set your budget for your upcoming vacation. As Spring Break season is in full swing here in Florida, you may want to add a little extra cash to your gas budget so that you’re as prepared as you can be during your trip.
The Auto Club Group (AAA) told the Orlando Sentinel that gas prices have been steadily increasing throughout the state, with some places seeing an increase of 10 cents. So, whether you’re planning on making the drive to Florida with your family or planning to rent a car once you’re there, you should keep those recent price increases in mind. Depending on where you are, this could mean seeing prices as high as $3.65 per gallon.
This increase can be attributed to a few different things. Since gas is in such high demand right now (with the busy travel season), the increase is to be expected, and it’s something that the state usually sees during the Spring Break season. This is due to the increase in people in Florida right now, including people here on vacation, as well as the people who live in the state during the Winter months.
The increased population isn’t the only factor, according to AAA. Right now, the state is making the switch to summer-blend gasoline, which is generally more expensive and is what you’ll be getting at the pump, even if you hit “regular.”
We could be seeing another price increase soon, so make sure you are prepared for those changes. As this is happening, what could you do to save money at the pump? Well, let’s talk about that.
There are a lot of gas stations that run a discount program if you pay for gas in the app (Cumberland Farms, Wawa, or Circle K to name a few). Usually, those savings will run you about 10 cents a gallon, so it could help offset that increase and keep a little more money in your pocket. We know it doesn’t sound like a lot — but it adds up quickly.
If you have a membership to a wholesale club like Costco, Sam’s Club, or BJ’s, check out their gas prices! A lot of the time they tend to have lower gas prices overall, and it could be a great way to save a little bit of cash.
Traveling can be expensive, and we know how important it can be to be prepared for what to expect. We’re keeping our eyes out for big price changes, so keep checking in with us at DFB for the latest.
