Disney World Cast members have a mystery language they use when they need to notify others of certain things that may happen in the parks.
Now, we’ve already told you about the gross Code V, and the even grosser, Code H. Code A isn’t much better (and we’re still shocked this happens). Then there’s the Code 101. Now THAT code is what Cast Members use when a ride closes. So yeah, most of these codes are all bad news. However, we’re going to tell you about a code that means good news, Code 102.
So, when you hear a Cast Member refer to a Code 101, that means a ride is temporarily closed. This could happen due to some kind of technical problem, weather (which often happens with outdoor rides during bad weather), or some other ride issue. So you might guess that Code 102 is related — but how is that good news if it’s about a closed ride?
A Code 102 is just the opposite of a Code 101. A Code 102 indicates that a ride has reopened! So if you’re listening in on Cast Member conversations and hear a Code 102 for a specific ride that you’ve been wanting to get on, you might want to make a beeline for that ride (because if you catch a reopening fast enough, you’ll have a lower wait time).
You’ll probably hear the Code 101 a LOT for a ride like Rise of the Resistance because it goes down a lot (must be all that high-tech stuff inside). So if you’ve been trying to get on the ride, just keep listening for a Code 102 for the ride and you might just get on the ride faster than if you’d been standing in a standby line or even a Lightning Lane.
Of course, you can always just keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app to see when a ride reopens. Just be sure to check it often!
