Here at DFB, we’ve seen our fair share of interesting food and beverages.
Some of them are a hit, and others tend to make us scratch our heads a bit. We’re always more than willing to give anything a try — no matter how interesting the flavor combination may seem to us. Recently, we’ve been seeing a lot of creativity from Starbucks with their drinks — and they just released a new drink that follows this trend… MEAT-FLAVORED COFFEE.
If you find yourself in China, make sure you head to Starbucks so you can get your hand on their latest creation.
To help ring in the Lunar New Year, Starbucks China released a brand new drink to celebrate. This drink is their Abundant Year Savory Latte, which sounds like it could be delicious… right?
Well, we’ll let the people who have tried it be the judge of that. This drink is a pork-based latte, which isn’t a flavor combination that you see floating around too much. However, pork is said to represent prosperity in the new year — so it makes sense.
This drink is made of Dongpo Braised Pork Flavor Sauce with espresso and steamed milk and is garnished with pork sauce and pork breast meat. What do you think of that flavor combo?
This drink was announced by Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Shanghai on Webio. They noted that their goal was to integrate their traditional customs into coffee — which is what resulted in this drink.
We’re really curious about who pitched the idea of a pork-flavored latte.. that is also served with pork on a skewer. Either way, we’re feeling a lot of FOMO wishing that we could try it.
If you find yourself at Shanghai Disney Resort, ask around and see if it is available there — or even take a little day trip into the city and grab it. If you do, let us know what you think — we NEED to know. Seriously, how do those flavors complement each other? We are just so intrigued.
We’re keeping our eyes open for fun news like this all the time, so keep checking in with us to see what we find next!
