Some new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Cabins are coming to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort!
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness will officially open on July 1st, and we’ve been getting a lot of new details about the updates that Disney has been working on. The new cabins are sleek and modern but are still inspired by the rustic resort with lots of fun Disney details. One thing we recently noticed, though, is that something in these cabins looks AWFULLY familiar.
Way back in March 2022, we had a chance to take a cruise on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, aka the Star Wars Hotel. One thing that we noticed about the cabins was the unique bunk beds. These bunk beds were like capsules built into the walls, which gave them a very spaceship-like look (which was, obviously, the idea).
Well, as we all know, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is now closed, but it seems like at least one design element from those rooms has been used again by Disney. Disney released concept photos of the new Cabins at Fort Wilderness, and it looks like bunk beds are BACK in style!
Okay, so the bunk beds aren’t identical to the Star Wars Hotel ones by any means, but we did notice that they still look awfully small, which was one of our concerns about the Galactic Starcruiser ones. The new bunk beds, though, have canoe oars on them in colors inspired by Mickey Mouse and his friends, so obviously this is an upgrade, right? 😂
Each bed also has its own Chip ‘n’ Dale mural, and the ladder is on the outside of the bed, rather than in the middle, which might help the bottom bunk feel bigger. There are also storage drawers under each bunk bed.
One thing that we thought was weird about the bunk beds in the Galactic Starcruiser was that they didn’t have outlets or USB ports. Well, the Cabins at Fort Wilderness actually have a device charging plug hidden in a lantern within the bunk bed’s wall. Disney did say it was going to take the lessons it learned with the Galactic Starcruiser for future projects, so is this an indication of something the company learned?
