TikTok Invaded EPCOT and We Don't See the Trend Ending Anytime Soon

We live in an age where things are deemed “cool” and trendy by the amount of times they pop up on a For You page.

Yes, I’m talking about TikTok. While ever-changing social media trends have their cons, I LOVE them most of the time. Why? Well, because these trends highlight and spread positive topics, activities, hobbies, and MORE. Thus, more and more folks are able to appreciate those things and maybe even try something new. Social media is one of the ways that we share our love for Disney World, and we automatically love it when others do the same, as long as it’s done in a respectful manner. Well, social media (TikTok especially) has caused EPCOT to sort of be cast as the Disney Park that doesn’t necessarily give Disney vibes — meaning its for everyone. You’ll never guess which aspect of EPCOT non-Disney adults find the most appealing. 😉

Yes, it’s drinking around the world! Grabbing a cocktail or alcoholic bevi from each of the countries in World Showcase isn’t anything new. However, TikTok has spread the alcoholic adventure to the For You pages of avid Disney-goers and first-timers alike.

While visiting EPCOT or simply scrolling on TikTok from your couch, you’ll see “Everything I Drank at EPCOT” plogs (that’s photo vlog), “Drink Around the World With Me” videos, and even some classic OOTDs (outfit of the day videos) and fit checks as people embark on their Journey into Inebriation. (Someone make that into a T-shirt. STAT.)

We don’t foresee this trend ending any time soon. If you search “drinking around the world” on TikTok, you’ll be greeted with thousands of videos — many that have even gone viral. According to TikTok’s trend report at the end of 2023, the platform has an audience of over 1 billion people. That number is projected to hit 1.8 billion by the end of 2024. With this many folks on a platform, trends come and go like WILDFIRE. However, we think that drinking around the world will continue to show up on the platform. The ways in which it is shown, however, is likely what will change.
