You’ve GOT To See This NEW Theme Park That’s Being Built on an OIL RIG!

There are a lot of new things and exciting things erupting within the tourism industry!

Universal is working on Epic Universe, Disney is building a new ride called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland, and even Hong Kong Disneyland has the new Frozen land!

However, we think we might’ve found the most uniquely exciting addition to the industry!

THE RIG. is Saudi Arabia’s newest tourism destination, based on the concept and model of offshore oil rigs.

You heard us right: This brand new venture is, as THE RIG. puts it on their website, “an epic offshore destination, in the heart of the Arabian Gulf.”

This unique new destination spans over 300,000 square meters and was originally announced by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) back in 2021.

The PIF created a strategy to “diversify and enrich the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s tourism and entertainment experiences,” creating the Oil Park Development Company to lead the development of THE RIG.

This project is no small feat, as it will include an array of tourist attractions including three hotels with 800 rooms, 11 restaurants, around 72 entertainment and attraction offerings, and multiple retail shops!

THE RIG. estimates to see upwards of 10,000 guests per day during their peak seasons, seeking to attract more than 900,000 visitors by 2032.

THE RIG. will enter a 3-year sponsorship with the Al-Hilal Saudi Football Club, playing a large part in promoting sports participation in Saudi Arabia, which is a goal of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. CEO of THE RIG. Raed Bakhrji expressed his excitement about the sponsorship, citing it as a successful start in future partnerships.
