Disney World may be “The Most Magical Place On Earth,” but that doesn’t always mean it’s a great time of year to visit the resort.
Despite being one of our favorite places on the planet, there are actually a few days we advise AGAINST going to Disney World. Whether due to the time of year or due to price increases, there are days when being at Disney World can be — well — a headache. We’re here to tell you about an event coming to Disney World in 2024 that was just announced — let’s talk about it!
Events can bring crowds, and Disney World just announced a big one: the return of the Department of Defense (DoD) Warrior Games in 2024. The games are scheduled to take place between June 21st through the 30th at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World. If you’re hoping to avoid crowds in Disney World, you may want to keep these dates off your list of possibilities.
The DoD Warrior Games are excellent adaptive sports competitions first held in 2010 and have become an annual event. Now celebrating its 14th anniversary, The Games celebrate “resiliency and dedication of wounded, ill, and injured active duty and veteran U.S. military service members.” Representatives will include men and women from the U.S. Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, Space Force, and U.S. Special Operations Command.

Adaptive sports, per the DoD, “provide reconditioning activities and competitive athletic opportunities to all wounded, ill, and injured service members to improve their physical and mental wellness throughout the continuum of recovery and transition.” Athletes use modified equipment and compete in sports, including archery, cycling, indoor rowing, powerlifting, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, track, field, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby.
