It doesn’t seem that long ago that Disney World permanently closed the Spirit of Aloha show and tore the building down to make way for new Disney Vacation Club villas at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
However, we’ve been following the construction of those villas, and have watched the construction site go from nothing but flat land to actual buildings. Well, we recently visited the construction site again — and we have a MASSIVE update to share with you.
The first thing we noticed was a new structure taking shape on the construction site. What could that be?
The gazebo-shaped building being constructed next to the main building could be something pretty exciting. While Disney hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, a Polynesian Resort Cast Member told us that it is going to be a restaurant. As we said, Disney hasn’t publicly stated this news yet, so take that information with a grain of salt. But if it’s true, we will be SUPER excited! Oh, and there’s more. A Cast Member also said the space between the buildings would be a new pool! (Again, Disney has not officially confirmed anything yet; this is just what a Cast Member told us during our recent visit.)
We also checked the project from a few different angles. A lot of the construction just looks like more of what we’ve already seen. Building something like this takes time, y’all.
There’s a lot of work still being done on the main building.
We did notice that something large seems to be getting delivered to one of the rooms on the top floor. As Disney tends to build its rooms in a modular fashion, we’re SUPER curious — what could be in that big box?
One thing is for certain: the rooms here are going to have an AMAZING view of the water.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more changes at the Polynesian, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
