The NEWEST Character Meet-and-Greet Has Officially OPENED in Disney World!

Okay, wrong movie. But that is how we feel about today’s news. We’re speaking on behalf of Disney fans everywhere when we say that we have been anticipating the OFFICIAL opening of Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana in EPCOT’s World Nature — along with a permanent Moana MEET AND GREET. Now, the day is finally here!

Today, October 16th, marks the official opening date for Journey of Water AND the new Moana meet-and-greet at EPCOT! Both the attraction and the meet-and-greet soft-opened a few days ago, but now they’re officially open to all guests.

Of course, we’re headed to the park to check it out! When we visited the new attraction this morning, we reported back on the CROWDS and the virtual queue.

But now we’re on our way to say hello to Moana!

When we arrived, we found that the queue for the meet-and-greet had been cut off. There were a lot of people who wanted to meet with her! If this happens to you, you can go back to try again the next time Moana is out.

Look on the My Disney Experience app to find out what times she’s coming out each day (it may be a little different day-to-day). When we checked the app, this meet-and-greet wasn’t pulling up on our tip board for the day. Instead, we went to the wait times map, filtered to “EPCOT,” and then extended the drop-down menu and selected “Characters.”

From there, we navigated on the map to the Journey of Water attraction and clicked on the Mickey head located right next to it.

Then we were able to see the times that Moana would be out. Today, she was meeting guests at 9AM, 10:15AM, 1:20PM, and 2:30PM.

We were still able to see Moana from outside the queue, but we couldn’t join the line to actually meet her. We’ll be trying again later today!
