You open your wallet, and you might see your Annual Passes card, your D23 membership card, and maybe even an old Disney Vacation Club membership card, but behind all of those cards, are you yearning to add a Disney Chase Visa card to your collection?
Today, we’re breaking down what you need to know before you apply for Disney Chase Visa!
Overview
In case you’re not super familiar with the Disney Visa credit card, let’s review the basics. The Disney Chase Visa is a Disney-themed credit card through Chase Bank (there are 2 types of cards) that lets you earn Disney Rewards Dollars for purchases made with the card. These Disney Rewards Dollars can then be redeemed into a Disney Rewards Card and used to buy items on shopDisney, in the parks, and more.

Credit Score
Now that you know a bit more about the Disney Visa Card, let’s review a bit about what a credit score is and how it can play into your options for getting a Disney Visa card.
A credit score is a three-digit number based on the information in your credit reports. It helps lenders determine how likely you are to repay a loan. This, in turn, affects how much you can borrow, how many months you have to repay, and how much it will cost (the interest rate).
Though there are several credit score types out there, the industry standard and what Chase primarily uses are FICO scores. Scores range between 0 and 850, with 850 being a perfect score.
- <580: Poor — Your score is well below average and demonstrates to lenders that you are a risky borrower.
- 580-669: Fair — Your score is below average, though many lenders will approve loans with this score.
- 670-739: Good — Your score is near or slightly above average, and most lenders consider this a good score.
- 740-799: Very Good — Your score is above average and demonstrates to lenders that you are a very dependable borrower.
- 800+: Exceptional — Your score is well above average and clearly demonstrates to lenders that you are an exceptional borrower.
FICO uses a range of factors to determine your overall credit score:
- Payment history (35%) — If you’ve made your previous payments on time.
- Amounts owed (30%) — Your credit utilization ratio, or the ratio of the amount of credit you’re using to the amount that’s been extended and owed on your accounts.
- Length of credit history (15%) — The amount of time you’ve had credit.
- New credit (10%) — How often you open new accounts.
- Credit mix (10%) — Whether you have different types of credit, such as installment loans or revolving lines of credit.
Minimum Credit Score Required
Chase, like most issuers, has not publicly indicated a required credit range to qualify for the Disney Visa credit card. However, like most rewards credit cards, it’s likely you’ll need a good to excellent credit score to qualify for this card. FICO defines a good credit score as 670 or better.
This isn’t a “hard and fast” rule. That is to say, it doesn’t mean all applicants with a score above 670 will qualify, or that those with a score below it will be rejected, just that, in general, this is the score you’ll want to aim for to be considered eligible. To help your chances, you should also limit the number of credit card applications you submit in recent months.
You’ll need to review your finances and potentially even speak with a trusted financial adviser before deciding to open a new line of credit. And though the Disney Chase Visa has many appealing perks and rewards, you’ll need to determine if it and its interest rate are suited to your family’s budget and financial needs before applying.
