REVIEW: The Big Problem With This EPCOT Festival Treat

We’ve made our way around the food booths with tasty items, checked out the merchandise, and figured out which concerts we just can’t miss. You can check out every single food booth review right here — but for now, we’ve got another festival treat to eat!

We’re heading over to Connections Eatery to grab a festival exclusive — the Black Forest Baumkuchen! This is a take on the regular Baumkuchen you can normally get at this location. It’s a multi-layered cake — and it’s spectacular.

This version is upgraded with cherries, chantilly cream, and chocolate sauce — you can get it for $5.99. But, fair warning — there’s no signage up for this treat and as far as we can tell, it’s only available via Mobile Order on the Disney World app.

First, we just need to mention how gorgeous the presentation on this is! It’s so nicely put together, we almost didn’t want to tear it apart.

But don’t worry, we did. When we tried the plain Baumkuchen, we loved the flavor but found it a little dry. This totally changes the game — the chocolate drizzle and whipped cream add a much-needed sauciness. The sweetness of the cake, chocolate, and whipped cream is cut by the tart cherries, but the combination of everything is when this dessert really shines.

If you ask us, this should be a permanent fixture on the Connections Eatery menu — but we’ll have to wait and see. Our only complaint is that it’s a bit on the messy side, but it’s certainly worth it. Folks who aren’t fans of dense cakes, chocolate, or fruit should probably sit this one out.
