WHY, Disney. Just…why.

There are some Disney food trends that we can 100% get behind, like chicken and waffles everywhere, experimental ice cream flavors, and Totchos showing up at hotel food courts. Those all sound fantastic to us. But we probably will never, NEVER be excited about eating zombie fingers…right??

Disney just released a full list of the Halloween treats coming to Magic Kingdom this year, and there are tons of tasty-looking offerings. Chocolate-hazelnut pastries, fried chicken sandwiches, and loaded sweet potato fries are all towards the top of our “we absolutely cannot WAIT to try this” list. But some of the new treats sound downright GROSS. So WHY do we want to try them anyways?

Zombie Fingers

Unless you’re talking about chicken fingers, there are almost zero things called “fingers” that we want to eat. Throw “zombie” in there and it becomes an instant hard pass.

The treat itself sounds pretty good (if you ignore the zombie part): these fingers are almond cookies with key lime pie white chocolate ganache, salted caramel crisp pearls, and sugar eyes. OK, actually that sounds downright delicious. We’ll just have to eat it with our eyes shut.

You can get the Zombie Fingers at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe from August 11th through November 1st during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

The Snarling Sub

Cosmic Ray is apparently taking the experimental approach this season, because another one of the gross-sounding treats is available at this cafe, too. It’s the Snarling Sub.

This sandwich is a meatball sub with spicy marinara, pesto, and pearl mozzarella “teeth” served on a black roll. Never in my life have I said, “Gosh, I really hope I get to eat some teeth today.” But now all that we’ll be able to think about when we take a bite is how we’re eating “teeth.”

Bucket of Bones

The last of the gross-sounding treats is the Bucket of Bones. This sounds more like what we throw away after we’ve finished cooking dinner than what we want to order off the menu in Disney World.

This new snack is bone-in piggy wings fried with fresh jalapeños tossed in Coca-Cola Cherry barbecue sauce. Those ingredients sound awesome. The name? Not so much.

You can get these at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café from August 11th through November 1st, during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party only.

We know that lots of people like their Halloween snacks and treats to look spooky and gross for the holiday, but we’re just not sure that we agree it’s a good idea.

Can’t we just stick to these other very on-theme treats that DON’T make us want to run away screaming? Here are six Halloween treats coming to Magic Kingdom that both look and sound absolutely scrumptious:

• MMMummy Treat: Flaky pastry filled with chocolate-hazelnut filling and topped with white icing stripes and sugar eyes at Cheshire Café (New; available August 11th through November 1st during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party only)

• Terrifyin’ Twice-Spiced Chicken Sandwich: Spicy fried chicken breast dipped in hot honey and topped with pepper jack cheese, jalapeño poppers, and bacon at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe (New; available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party only)

• Pain and Panic Loaded Tots: Tots topped with sweet and spicy onion relish, sriracha mustard, and crumbled bratwurst at The Friar’s Nook (New; available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party only)

• Loaded Sweet Potato Fries: Sweet potato fries tossed in cinnamon sugar and topped with marshmallow cream, butterscotch chips, and toffee pieces at Golden Oak Outpost (New; available August 11th through November 1st during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party only)

• Cajun Burger: Cajun-spiced all-beef patty topped with fried green tomato, Cajun Andouille dip, and Creole remoulade served on a black bun at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café (New; available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party only)

• Cinnamon Funnel Cake: Funnel cake topped with pumpkin ice cream, drizzled with pumpkin spiced caramel, and topped with butterscotch chips at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments (New; available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party only)

The spooky treats will probably be really fun for some people, and we can especially see kids loving them. We’ll be trying them all — gross-looking or not — so stay tuned to DFB for full reviews of all the treats when they come out in August!
