Get those tissues ready, Disney is hoping to make you CRY today.
Okay, well, maybe that’s not their exact goal, but they might just have you feeling sentimental with this update. Disney and Pixar’s newest film — Elemental — will be hitting theaters on June 16th. But it won’t be premiering alone. When the new film hits movies everywhere, it’ll also feature a Pixar short in front of it, and let’s just say it’ll have you reaching for a few hundred colorful balloons.
The NEW short that’ll debut in front of Elemental is called Carl’s Date. It features Carl from Up, and it marks the return of the Pixar tradition to pair a feature film with an animated short.
According to Disney, in the short “Carl reluctantly agrees to go on a date with a lady friend—but admittedly has no idea how dating works these days. Ever the helpful friend, Dug steps in to calm Carl’s pre-date jitters and offer some tried-and-true tips for making friends… if you’re a dog.”
Disney had announced this short before but an official trailer for it has now dropped. Check it out below!
We have a feeling this short will bring in a lot of laughs and maybe a tear or two (or three), especially as you remember those first few minutes of the original Up movie. But what about Elemental, the feature film that’ll follow the short? Well, in this movie you’ll be able to join Ember and Wade, an unlikely duo who discover a shared connection and challenge the notion that “elements do not mix.”
As Ember questions her predetermined fate of owning her family’s shop, she finds inspiration in Wade, a free-spirited individual who encourages her to live by her own standards. Together, they embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, defying societal expectations and embracing the true essence of living authentically.
