REVIEW: We Both LOVED and HATED This Brand New Disney Meal!

It’s time for some more eats over at Disneyland Resort!

Red Rose Taverne

We recently found some new snacks over at Jolly Holiday, but now it’s time to head through the castle, past Snow White, jostle by the carrousel, and turn left to Red Rose Taverne. There are two new menu items we had to try and we’re here to tell you if they’re worth your money!

First up, we have the Patty Melt Loaded Bites for $12.99. These are made of Taverne potato bites (AKA TOTS), cheese sauce, ground beef, caramelized onion, special sauce, rye croutons, and fresh chives. Sounds AMAZING, right? Like the perfect indulgence!

And while we couldn’t wait to dig in…and we loved the first bite!!!…it ended up not being the best execution, unfortunately.

The tots themselves are delicious and crunchy, but the ground beef is the biggest issue in the dish. We found it to be too greasy, oily, and far too salty. The meat also doesn’t chew well, the cheese is gummy, and the “special sauce” is just 1000 Island dressing.

They look great, but taste wise…

Overall we think these look much better than they tasted, which was super sad, and your mileage may vary. If that meat had been a little better, things would have been looking up.

Next, we had the Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich for $15.29. This is a fried chicken filet, crispy prosciutto, swiss cheese, spinach, and Dijon mayo on a toasted bun.

This was the complete opposite — it tastes much better than it looks! The chicken is crispy on the outside and soft inside, the bun is fluffy and soft, and the Dijon mayo gives the sandwich a good kick. We actually would have liked to have a little more spinach, but overall, we think this is a total win.
