We thought we had seen it all — and then Disney World went and surprised us yet again. We know spring break crowds were intense, but we never expected a week like this. It’s not the first time that Genie+ has sold out, but we did see it happen in record time this week. Not only that, but the service had previously had a high price of $29 — that’s all changed.
On Monday, April 3rd, everything still seemed pretty on par with what we had seen last week regarding Genie+. It was priced at $29 — the record high at the time. But then, it SOLD OUT! You might be thinking, “That’s nothing new…” but this was the fastest we had ever seen it sell out before. Genie+ was no longer available by 12PM!
By Tuesday, April 4th, something had changed. Instead of the high price of $29, Genie+ reached another record high at $35 per person, per day! Not only that but all the Individual Lightning Lane rides sold out, and Genie+ itself sold out.
If you’re seeing a pattern, you’re not wrong. Genie+ has continued to stay at its highest price yet of $35 since it originally reached it — and we’re not sure it’ll change anytime soon. Spring break crowds will likely linger for another couple of weeks or so, and it’s possible that these Genie+ trends will follow.
So, what do you need to know about using Genie+ in Disney World? Well, a couple of things stand out given recent events. Not only can the service sell out, but it can sell out faster than we originally thought. If you’re thinking about using it on a busy park day — don’t wait. Buy it as soon as you’re able to, which is midnight on the day of your visit.
Spending time in long standby lines can really eat into your day, so Genie+ might be a good option if you know you’ll be at the parks during a particularly busy time. Just make sure you purchase Genie+ ASAP so you don’t run the risk of having it sell out.
You also need to know that while $35 is a record-high price, there’s no guarantee that it’s the highest we’ll see for Genie+. Although Disney hasn’t said anything about any potential increases, it’s possible that this isn’t the worst we’ll see with the service.
Of course, it’s not guaranteed that you’ll be paying $35 for Genie+ on your trip, as Disney introduced surge pricing late last year. This means that the price for Genie+ changes based on demand or how busy the parks are. The lower the demand, the lower the price. The higher the demand, well, you get the idea.
Genie+ can be a total game changer and help you save some serious time in the parks, you just need to know how to use it to your advantage! Luckily, we’ve got plenty of guides, tips, and tricks to help you be an expert — check them out below.
As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney World news and more!
