Nothing wakes us up faster than the knowledge that a Disney World park day is imminent — okay, almost nothing.
We suppose if a fire alarm went off at our Disney World hotel, we might be up just a little bit quicker! Although it’s rare, we’ve seen it happen before and Disney usually advises guests when a test might be happening, but if you’re not expecting it you might be caught off guard. It looks like that might have been the case recently for guests staying at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn!
We stopped by Disney’s BoardWalk Inn recently to see if there was anything new going on, but we were actually in for quite the surprise. While we were strolling through the lobby, the fire alarm began going off!

We spotted a few guests evacuating, but a manager advised us that this was just a test of the alarm system and guests did not actually need to leave the building.
Additionally, we spotted a sign not too far away warning guests that this testing would be taking place. The sign noted when the test would be happening and what to expect.
In situations like this, Disney will typically advise guests of the test ahead of time and let them know when it will be taking place so that they can plan properly. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen fire alarm testing at Disney hotels, and chances are it could continue. Luckily, the tests usually take place during the day when most people are out of their rooms either in the parks or exploring the rest of the resort.
If you were planning on taking a nap (or have a kiddo who needs a nap) or wanted to lounge poolside, tests like this could impact your plans. The sounds of the fire alarm probably won’t lull you to sleep or make you feel very relaxed. Make sure you’re flexible on your Disney World trip so you can go with the flow and still have a good time!
In this case, the fire alarm tests are scheduled between 1PM and 3PM from March 21st to 23rd. Be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news that could affect your plans!
