After keeping a watch on the crowds over Christmas and New Year’s, we’ve reached another point in the Disney calendar when the parks might be seeing more guests than usual.
Marathon Weekend Crowds
The 2023 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is here, and with it are tons of runners along with their supporters. If you are thinking of coming to the parks during a future race, you might be wondering what this means for accommodation availability.
We checked a variety of resorts and hotels to see just how booked up they are during this busy marathon weekend. How busy is it? Well, at the moment, only three hotels had availability for guests this weekend. Here are the hotels that still have some availability: Contemporary, Art of Animation, and Campsites at Fort Wilderness.

When we checked each of these properties, each room type said “This room type is unavailable for the dates, party size or offer selected.” WOW!

If you are planning a trip to Disney World during a runDisney race, especially a big event like this January marathon weekend or the Disney Princess Half Marathon, keep this in mind. You’ll want to book your resort as far in advance as you possibly can because if you wait, you may just be out of luck (unless you want to camp on Disney property).
If you are looking to avoid crowds on your Disney trip, you may want to plan around marathon weekends as they do tend to equal a higher number of guests in the parks! For more information on hotel availability, keep checking in to DFB for the latest!
