Things have changed a LOT in the realm of Disney World dining recently.
We’ve seen changes in dining reservations policies, restaurant reopenings, and menu updates — and that’s all within the last few months alone! But now you can add another item to that list. One Disney World restaurant has updated its kids’ meals!
We stopped by Restaurantosaurus to check out a big change that was recently made — they’re now offering books with the purchase of a kids’ meal. But there’s a catch! Previously, you could choose three sides with a kids’ meal here, but now you get the choice of two sides along with a National Geographic book. So you’re giving up an extra side to get that book.
The new change applies to all three kids’ meal options, and the book is the same for every order — “So Cool! Dinos” from National Geographic Kids. We Mobile Ordered our meal and when we picked it up at the counter, the book wasn’t on the tray; we simply asked the Cast Member about it and they handed us one. (It’s still a relatively new change, so just ask at the counter if they forget to put it on your tray.)
With the kids’ meals at Restaurantosaurus, there are three options (if you’re not ordering from the allergy-friendly section) — the Impossible Burger, the Cheeseburger, and a 4-count Chicken Breast Nuggets meal. We decided to get the chicken nuggets.
Along with the meal, you can choose two sides and a beverage. The sides include bug-shaped graham crackers, a Cuties mandarin, applesauce, french fries, and a cookie. We opted for the cookie and the mandarin. You also get a choice of beverage with Dasani water, low-fat milk, Minute Maid apple juice, chocolate milk, or an assortment of serve-yourself fountain beverages with a small cup.
Honestly, we were more than impressed with the kids’ entree here! The chicken nuggets were better than most of the chicken tenders we’ve eaten on Disney property. They were filled with white meat and a pretty decent size, nice and crispy but not crunchy. Plus, Restaurantosaurus has a large self-serve topping and sauce bar, so you can get everything from ketchup to ranch to dip them in. (FYI — adults can order an 8-piece chicken nuggets meal here as well!)
The cookie wasn’t anything too special, it was very soft but didn’t have much chocolate inside. And the “Cuties mandarin” that we were supposed to get…well it wasn’t a Cuties mandarin at all. It was a regular small orange with seeds and everything, which might be pretty hard for your kiddos to eat. We know that they were serving Cuties here pretty recently, so they might have just been out of stock during our visit. You might want to ask before you order, just in case.
Now about that book! It’s a really cute short story crammed with fun facts about dinosaurs. It talks about their diet, their lifestyle, and shows pictures of various dinos. It’s a great way to get your kiddos excited about some of the offerings in Dinoland, U.S.A.
All in all, we think the book is pretty fun, but it might be a downgrade if you’re really looking for that extra value with the meal.
Kids meals have changed over at Restaurantosaurus in Disney’s Animal Kingdom 🦖 You used to be able to choose up to 3 sides with your kids meal, but now you have a choice of just 2 sides and a National Geographic book instead 📚

Keep in mind that meals here aren’t cheap. We paid $10.49 for the 4-piece chicken nugget meal before tax. The Cheeseburger meal is the same price, and the Impossible burger is $10.79. The options at Pizzafari are $3 cheaper and your kiddo could get full-on bowls or Cheeseburger Pods at Satu’li Canteen for less than $10. Without the extra side, you’ll have to find the value in the toppings bar — make sure to take advantage of that!
We’ll make sure to keep you updated if there are any more dining changes in Disney World. We’re expecting a new restaurant soon — Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Disney’s Hollywood Studios — so keep following along for updates and news about when that might open.
