It’s time! The 2022 Food and Wine Festival has officially kicked off in EPCOT!
The Alps has been the booth for Swiss-inspired eats since 2019 and we’re back today — basically just to eat CHEESE. THREE different dishes are part of Emile’s Fromage Montage (aka a cheese scavenger hunt) so come with us on a cheesy adventure!
Menu
The menu at The Alps booth has two new items but some of our favorite dishes like the Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese (with and without Alpine Ham) are back, plus a NEW version of it! We were READY for cheese today so we stopped by to grab two returning favorites and one NEW dish! Are they just as good this year? All three dishes we tried are part of Emile’s Fromage Montage, which gets you a prize if you try 5 different qualified cheesy eats. This year, there are 10 different options to choose from!
Most of the drinks are returning but the Wicked Weed Brewing Uncle Rick’s Pilsner is new!
Eats
First up, we’re trying the Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Alpine Ham, Baby Potatoes, Cornichons, and Baguette for $5.50! As per usual, this dish did not disappoint. It’s filling and delicious, and we love the salty ham with the tender potatoes. We even love that tangy crunch from the cornichons. To be fair, can you do warm cheese wrong? Even on a hot day, we’ll still order this dish!
We also ordered the Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Baby Potatoes, Cornichons, and a Baguette for $5! This is basically the same as the other dish except without ham, so if you don’t like ham this could be a good choice!
Finally, we got the Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Riesling-poached Pears, Red Wine-braised Figs, Candied Pecans, Honey, and Cranberry Toast for $5.50! This was SUCH a good mix of salty and sweet. The bread and nuts were nice and crispy so there was a lot of crunch happening here.
The fig jam was sweet and sour all at once, and really helped to cut through the richness of the cheese. We really enjoyed this twist on the classic raclette dishes we’re used to from this booth!
Drinks
To wash down all our cheesy food, we ordered the new Wicked Weed Brewing Uncle Rick’s Pilsner for 6 oz $5.00 / 12 oz $9.00. This was an excellent beer for a hot day. It was nice and light, not overly hoppy and there no outstanding flavors. Overall it was a light and refreshing beer that we could drink again and again. It really hit the spot!
The Frozen Rosé is also back this year for $9.00, and we generally love its balance of dry and sweet. Any frozen drink is usually a good bet when you’re walking around in the HOT Florida sun, and this one is certainly no different.
Several other drinks are returning this year too, such as the René Favre Dôle and the Cave De La Côte Rosé Gamay, and if you can’t decide you can get a wine flight for $6.75.
Overall
We walked away from The Alps super happy and full of cheese. Seriously, when ALL three dishes revolve around hot cheese, chances are we’re going to be happy. If you’re looking for lighter fare, this booth definitely isn’t it — but if you’re after something hearty that’ll stick to your ribs long after the day is through, The Alps Booth is worth a visit. Follow along with us as we explore the 2022 Food & Wine Festival!
