We’re in the parks trying all the 4th of July treats this holiday weekend!
We’ve tried many treats so far, like the Red Velvet Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich and the patriotic Frangipane Bar, just to name a few, and we’ve got plenty more to try. We headed over to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort to try yet another festive cupcake!
The Star-Spangled Cupcake is $5.79 at Art of Animation Resort. It’s a yellow cupcake filled with watermelon basil curd and topped with lemon buttercream and white chocolate stars.
We think that this treat just SCREAMS summer! The cupcake itself is super moist and fresh, and the watermelon basil curd was absolutely delicious — it was very cold and refreshing. Watermelon is the prominent flavor, but the basil is there! The consistency of the filling was slightly thicker than pudding, and the lemon buttercream on top pairs well with the other flavors of the treat.
We enjoyed the milky sweet stars and the crunch they gave the treat. Our only complaint was that the buttercream was a little too sweet, and we think a whipped cream type of topping would have gone better with this light treat. If you’re a fan of fruity, sweet treats, we think this would be a match made in heaven for you!
If you are a pickier eater, don’t let the watermelon basil deter you from this treat! The cupcake was light and fruity, and we think most people would enjoy it. This is a limited-time treat for the 4th of July, so you can only get it through July 4th. The cupcake is available on Mobile Order at Landscape of Flavors at Art of Animation and Everything POP at Pop Century.
For other fruit-flavored sweets around the parks, try the new Lunch Box Tart we found in Hollywood Studios, or the Apple Pie Éclair at Amorette’s!
Stay tuned to DFB for more 4th of July food reviews!
