Disney World is starting to gear up for summer, and it’s time for us to prepare too!

While We’re Not Fans of the Heat, Summer is a Beautiful Time in Disney World!
Now is the time to grab your park passes before the summer months fill up — because they will! It’s also a great time to start mentally preparing for the summer wait times by checking how they look each week. But of course, we wouldn’t be DFB if we weren’t also getting you prepared for the new summer foods hitting Disney World! So, to fulfill our duty, we headed over to Disney’s Grand Floridian today to give one of their new summer treats a try!
The Grand Floridian is home to the Gasparilla Island Grill, which is where we grabbed the new Dreamsicle Cone! This dessert is a waffle cone with a brownie inside (!!!) and a rice krispy treat shaped like a scoop of ice cream on top. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s even some white chocolate drizzle on top of the rice krispy treat!
We thought this treat was super cute — and that’s about it. The rice krispy treat wasn’t stale and tasted like vanilla, which we liked, but the brownie was dense and had just a little bit of that fake chocolate flavor. We also found the cone to be incredibly stale, like, hurting your teeth to get a bite of it stale.
And even though it wasn’t a real ice cream cone, it started to melt as it got warmer just like ice cream. We think kids would probably like this for its uniqueness, but we wouldn’t really recommend it, especially when Gasparilla Island Grill has so many other delicious desserts (like this Orange Bird cake pop!).
Our biggest takeaway from this treat is that we just wish it was fresher. If it was, it may have been a hit! You might have better luck and will be served a fresher batch. But as it stands, at $5.48 per cone, we just don’t think this dessert was worth it.
We’ll continue to bring you more reviews on the new summer foods hitting the parks, so stay tuned to DFB!
