There are a lot of iconic Christmas movies out there, but one especially beloved film is The Santa Clause featuring Tim Allen.
The film ultimately became a series with 2 sequel movies made after the original. It’s been a LONG time since we’ve seen Tim Allen in the big red suit though. The Santa Clause 3 came out all the way back in 2006. But soon we’ll all get to see Tim Allen transform into Santa once again!
Earlier today D23 shared the BIG holiday news — Disney Legend Tim Allen is set to reprise his role from The Santa Clause movies for a NEW limited series coming to Disney+!
The new series has “The Santa Clause” as its current working title. The series will be executive produced by Allen and is going to begin production in Los Angeles, California in March.
Just what will the series be about? Well D23 gave us a bit of a peek today. The new series is going to be set after the trilogy of the original The Santa Clause films. In the show, Scott Calvin will be “on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever.”
According to D23, “He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.”
The executive producer and showrunner will be Jack Burditt (who many may recognize from 30 Rock, Modern Family, Frasier, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). Additional individuals will also serve as executive producers including Kevin Hench (from Last Man Standing), Richard Baker, and Rick Messina.
We seriously CANNOT WAIT to hear more about this new series and what it will involve! Stay tuned for more updates!
