Review: WARNING! Don't Look Inside Disney World's Newest Treat

‘Tis the season for LOTS of new Disney World treats, am I right or am I right?

We’ve been chowing down on all the peppermint, eggnog, and chocolate goodies that have been released in the parks and resorts since the beginning of the season. At this point, our belts have grown a size or two, but there’s still MORE to try! And, today we’re heading over to Disney’s Saratoga Springs to try their latest twist on a peppermint treat!

Last year, Artist’s Palette was home to the Peppermint Cupcake, but for 2021, Disney has switched it up and now you can pick up the all NEW Peppermint Mousse! It can be found in the refrigerated section for $5.99 and is a peppermint mousse with a gooey fudge center served on a chocolate cookie with a white chocolate snowflake on top.

And, if you didn’t think that chocolate and peppermint went hand and hand before, then this dessert might be the one to convince you! Because it is served cold, we found that the treat was actually quite refreshing on a warm Florida winter day (a lot like an Andes mint!). And, while the mousse itself was light, the peppermint and chocolate flavors were RICH (something that we LOVE in a holiday treat).

That being said, the one thing that tripped us up was the texture. Both the gloss on top (which is also peppermint flavored) and the mousse were much more jelly-like compared to some other mousses we’ve tried in Disney World. Though, the cookie bottom did add a much-needed crunch to the bite. But, we just couldn’t quite get past the presentation of the dessert when we bit in… .

So, we wouldn’t necessarily say that this is a treat that you need to go out of your way to try on your holiday trip, but if you’re a fan of chocolate and peppermint then this could be a great way to cool off when you’re back at the resort! Plus, while you’re there you can pick up the Eggnog Cupcake too, which has made its return to Artist’s Palette this year!
