EPCOT is currently in the middle of a massive transformation.

Construction continues!

There are new restaurants, stores, a ride, neighborhoods, and more in the park, and there’s even more still to come! One thing we’ve been eagerly anticipating for the past few years is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — a family-friendly omnicoaster based off of the hit Marvel movies. And, we have an exciting update about the new ride!

Filming has started for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind!

James Gunn, who directed the first 2 Guardians movies and is set to direct the 3rd, tweeted that they have started shooting on Cosmic Rewind. The question came up after he was asked if shooting has started on Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which it has not.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is set to open sometime next year and is located in the World Discovery neighborhood in EPCOT’s Future World. It will be one of the longest indoor roller coasters in the WORLD and has ride vehicles that will spin a full 360 degrees as they move along the track.

We recently got a look inside at the new ride, and it is MASSIVE! The inside portion that we saw seemed near completion, so hearing that filming has already started for the ride has us hopeful for the ride’s upcoming opening.

And, if you’re concerned about Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Gunn says that they are pretty close to starting shooting — the film is set to be released in May 2023. Stay tuned to DFB as we bring you updates on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind!
