October 1st has FINALLY arrived, and Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebrations are officially underway!

We’ve been checking out the new fireworks, new merchandise, and a whole BUNCH of new treats throughout the parks. Now, our adventures have brought us to Magic Kingdom for a 50th spin on a classic ice cream snack!

At the Main Street Plaza Ice Cream Parlor you’ll find a NEW ice cream treat for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary called The Banana Boom! This snack is a traditional banana split topped with popping candy and chocolate fireworks.

The treat features vanilla ice cream with pineapple, strawberry ice cream with strawberries, and chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce. On top of that you’ll find lots of whipped cream, a whole banana cut in half, those chocolate “fireworks,” and popping candy.

If you love a good banana split, we have a feeling you’ll enjoy this! It was a solid treat as far as banana splits go — delicious ice cream & fun toppings, and it was refreshing to eat on a hot day. The treat didn’t have a TON of popping candy on it, which was actually nice for us. We felt like there was just enough there to get that popping sensation without overpowering the entire treat.

We do think kids will love that addition of the popping candy though, as it makes for a more exciting experience eating this treat. It is VERY hot outside, so this baby was melting FAST! Be sure to eat it up quickly before you essentially get banana split soup.

Overall, if you love banana splits, this is a win for you. If you don’t love bananas, banana splits, ice cream, or some of the other toppings included in this snack, then this is probably not a good pick for you.
