Today, we stopped by Capt. Cook’s to see their newest offering, a DOLE Whip Cupcake!

The 50th Celebration Cupcake features a Vanilla Cupcake with DOLE Whip Pineapple Center, Tropical Fruit Salsa, and Pineapple Macaron! Yes, you read that right. There’s a Dole Whip pineapple custard filling inside the cupcake! Oh, and it also has a cute White Chocolate 50th Anniversary Medallion on it.

We have to applaud the presentation of this cupcake — it’s so beautifully done.

It’s so pretty!

It’s just so celebratory! In addition to the Pineapple Macaron on top, there’s also  a sweet (VERY SWEET) Buttercream Icing with Graham Cracker Crumbs sprinkled on top. The Fruit Salsa is a combination of Diced Pineapple and Passionfruit and sits inside an Edible Flower (!!!). So VERY Polynesian Resort, don’t you think?

Inside is that Dole Whip Pineapple Custard filling, which offers up the PERFECT amount of tartness (as does the fruit salsa), especially with the super sweet icing on top. The Macaron is actually shaped like a pineapple and it tastes just like one, too, and YES, WE LOVE IT. If you love Pineapple Dole Whip, we’re going to tell you you NEED to try this cupcake.

BUT…you also need to have a sweet tooth, because as we mentioned, the icing is a lot, even if the tartness of the pineapple flavors tames it a little bit. And we could’ve done without the edible flower because it wasn’t all that…well…edible. We mean, you CAN eat it, but we’re not sure why you would want to because it’s flavorless and takes a bit of uncomfortable chewing. 😕
