It’s time for Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion to leave its refurbishment cocoon — and emerge as a spooky Halloween butterfly, The Nightmare Before Christmas-style!
Today we had the opportunity to ride Haunted Mansion Holiday!. Are you ready to see what this year has in store for Haunted Mansion’s Nightmare Before Christmas Halloween makeover?
Warning: If you don’t want to be spoiled by scenes from this year’s Haunted Mansion Holiday, scroll on to the end!
In Disneyland, the Haunted Mansion is located in New Orleans Square, and Haunted Mansion Holiday takes over the interior AND the exterior of Disney’s spookiest ride. At the front entrance, Jack Skellington, dressed as Santa Claus, sits on a jack-o’-lantern with Christmas wreath monsters eating the Haunted Mansion signs.
The monster wreaths are definitely eyeing guests who dare to enter the Haunted Mansion queue.
Once you step into the ride queue, you come across a pumpkin-headed scarecrow dressed as Santa Claus in a patch of pumpkins.
If you look at the Haunted Mansion, you’ll see a lonnnnng list hanging from the roof. Written on it are all of Jack’s attempts to make sense of Christmastime!
A countdown clock to “Xmas” now adorns the Haunted Mansion, with zero days left. Can you count the 400+ candles now decorating the Haunted Mansion?
You can also spot a bunch of jack-o’-lanterns hanging out in the Haunted Mansion’s carriage.
Are the jack-o’-lanterns driving the carriage too? One is wearing a Santa hat!
While on the ride, we caught a glimpse of the new Haunted Mansion Holiday Gingerbread House. Every year a different gingerbread house is featured, and this years is a Frankensteined mash-up of nineteen of the past years’ gingerbread houses!
We don’t blame the Haunted Mansion ghosts for sneaking a bite of the gingerbread house.

Disclosure: In nearly all circumstances, Disney Food Blog writers and photographers pay full price for their own travel, hotel, food, beverage, and event tickets. We do this because it’s important to us as journalists to ensure not only that we give you unbiased opinions, but also that you can trust us to do so since we’re paying our own way. On rare occasions, when we are invited by a company to attend a preview as media, and when we choose to accept that invitation, we will always make you, our readers, aware of that situation. Today, we were invited by Disney to attend their media preview of Halloweentime. Note that when we attend events as media we are 1) Not required to review that event/food on any of our channels, and 2) Not required to review that event/food favorably. You can always count on DFB to give you a 100% unbiased and honest review of any event that we attend, food that we eat, or beverage that we drink. You can see more in our Disclosure Policy.
