What’s New in Animal Kingdom: A Surprise Closure and BIG Summer Crowds

Welcome back, DFB friends! We’re here with another What’s New at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

And, we’ve got plenty of updates to share with you! So, what are you waiting for? Let’s dive right on in!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Entertainment

Kilimanjaro Safaris

As we were waiting in line for the Kilimanjaro Safaris for 25 minutes, Cast Members announced prior to boarding that there were some delays at the attraction. An animal was blocking the pathway, which eventually led to Kilimanjaro Safaris closing temporarily. As the line was cleared out, Cast Members gave everyone FastPasses to return later.

Although there wasn’t much information about the animal or the ride closures, Kilimanjaro Safaris did reopen after noon as guests with the FastPasses were prioritized for boarding.

And, we were thrilled to see all the cuties chilling on the safari, like rhinos…

…elephants, and more!

But, those weren’t the only visitors we saw out and about!

Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto were coasting through the waterways of Animal Kingdom in their adorable safari get-ups! They were just as happy to see us as we were happy to be in the park!

And, there were PLENTY of more people exploring the park as well!

It was a busy day as families soaked up the last bits of summer vacation together in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

Longer lines stretched past ride entrances at attractions like the Kilimanjaro Safaris…

Restaurants were even busy throughout the day as guests stopped to get snacks or meals at locations like Pongu Pongu in Pandora!
