NEWS: Projections Coming to Main Street, U.S.A. for Disney’s World’s 50th Anniversary

We’ve been getting excited for Disney World’s 50th anniversary!

Happily Ever After

The celebration kicks off on October 1st and lasts for a whopping 18 months. And while we’ve already got a taste of what’s in store (like new costumes for Mickey and Minnie, a ride’s grand opening, new eats, and more), Disney’s got something else up their sleeve!

Today, Disney announced that a NEW fireworks show — Disney Enchantment — will be coming to Magic Kingdom as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations.

One of the most unique things about this show is that for the first time ever in Disney World, there will be immersive projection effects used during the show that will extend from Cinderella Castle down Main Street, U.S.A.!

We have seen projection mapping used on Cinderella Castle before during shows like Happily Ever After and the holiday projections that were done last year, but this projection show will stretch down to Main Street, U.S.A.’s buildings. That sounds pretty exciting!

It sounds somewhat similar in a sense to what was done for Disneyland Forever, a show that was featured over at Disneyland Park where there were projects on the buildings on Main Street, U.S.A.

According to Disney, Enchantment was created to launch with “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” and it will take guests “on a journey filled with adventure, wonder and empowerment,” inspiring everyone to believe in magic. Guests will get to enjoy music, enhanced lighting, and stunning fireworks along with those immersive projections.

The show will debut on October 1st, 2021, as part of the kick-off to the 50th Anniversary celebrations.

If you’re itching to see fireworks again in Disney World though you won’t have to wait that long. Fireworks will officially return to Magic Kingdom (with Happily Ever After) and EPCOT (with EPCOT Forever) on July 1st, 2021!
