As the situation with COVID-19 continues to develop, we’ve seen a number of changes announced when it comes to health and safety policies at theme parks and elsewhere.
Disney World has noted that they will be phasing out temperature checks and gradually reducing physical distancing guidelines. We’ve also seen many trash can lids closed and other things returning to “normal” in the parks. Now we’re starting to spot some changes in the parks when it comes to social distancing guidelines.
Disney has a number of health & safety signs all around the parks. These signs can have a few things on them. They may provide a general COVID-19 warning, advise guests that they must wear a face covering, and provide other information.
Some of the health & safety reminders also include details about physical distancing.
In the sign below, you can see an example of one of the signs you’ll typically find throughout Disney World with reminders about wearing a mask, maintaining physical distancing, washing your hands, and more.
As you can see in the image below, where it reminds guests to maintain physical distance, it shows two persons and an arrow between them with the words “6′ 2M.”
As we were walking around Disney today, however, we found a sign that did not have the “6′ 2M” listed between the physically distanced individuals. You can see how physical distancing is still encouraged in the sign below, but the specification that 6 feet of distancing must be maintained is gone.
We saw this sign over at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort as we were walking on a path between that hotel and Disney’s Riviera Resort.
We had already seen a similar change made on Disney’s website, where the image displaying physical distance is now missing any specific mention of 6 feet or 2 meters.
Disney previously announced that they would be reducing their distancing for guests across many areas with a gradual, phased approach. Six feet of distancing will remain, however, in dining locations, stores, and other places where guests can temporarily remove their masks.
We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more updates on this situation and let you know what we find.
